Player Actions
Here is a screenshot of the Player Actions Page:
To the left are the Upgrades(if the text above the buttons doesn't make it obvious).
The three buttons, in order from top to bottom, upgrade:
1. Action Length - Each upgrade increases it by 3 turns
2. Action Effectiveness - Each upgrade increases it by 0.05
3. Power Gain Per turn - Each upgrade increases it by 0.5
You might wonder, what is an action? An action is a player-initiated modifier which lasts for the Action Length, and changes some quantity by the Effectiveness. If you were to pick, for example, "Disseminate Hateful Content" from the Evil Actions on the right, at current levels, it would create a 10-turn modifier which would decrease happiness by 0.05% per turn(something easily mitigated by the starting modifiers in the game).
The Buttons below the "Good Actions" text represent all Philanthropic actions. You can pay a certain amount of power to create a Modifier which will last for HALF the length and positively affect the world by TWICE the Effectiveness.
The Good Actions are:
1. Fund Anti-Corruption organizations(Decrease the Corruption)
2. Philanthropic Action(Increase Happiness)
3. Improve Education(Increase Literacy)
Now, for the more interesting stuff. The 4 buttons below the "Evil Actions" text represent certain criminal actions you can commit to negatively affect the world. Picking one of these will create a Modifier lasting for the Action Length, which will negatively affect a quantity in some way.
The possible Evil Actions are:
1. Disseminate Hateful Content - Create a modifier lasting for the Action Length, decreasing Happiness by the Action Effectiveness
2. Slander the Education System - Create a modifier lasting for the Action Length, decreasing Literacy by the Action Effectiveness
3. Encourage Bribery - Create a modifier lasting for the Action Length, increasing Corruption by the Action Effectiveness
4. Encourage Unrest - Create a modifier lasting for the Action Length, increasing Crime by the Action Effectiveness
(All of the costs of these actions are shown when the player hovers over each button with their mouse)
You may also be wondering what the little slider with "Philanthropy" on the left and "Criminality" on the right represents. Every good action you take will move you toward Philanthropy by a certain percent, and every bad action will move you toward Criminality by a certain percent. The more you move down a certain path, the higher the modifiers caused by it.
At 100% Philanthropy, you will gain 10 connections per turn, at the cost of -10 power per turn. At 100% Criminality, you will gain 10 power per turn at the cost of 10 connections per turn(so bye bye upgrades).
